Which IELTS test is right for you?

 

1.   IELTS Academic

IELTS Academic evaluates your English proficiency in an academic environment. It is ideal for individuals aiming to pursue university-level education, for higher education and for professional registration purposes.

 

2.   IELTS for UKVI

With the IELTS for UKVI (Academic) you can pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the UK. This exam is designed to meet the specifications set by the UK government. It is also appropriate for those seeking professional registration in the UK.

3.   IELTS General Training

If you wish to pursue employment in an English-speaking environment, taking IELTS General Training test might be a requirement during your job application. The test includes language that is used in everyday scenarios as well as in professional situations.

 

The IELTS test has four sections:

 

IELTS Listening test (30 minutes)

You will have to listen to four recordings and then answer the questions asked. The recordings are of native English speakers and the duration of the test is 30 minutes.

IELTS Reading test (60 minutes)

The IELTS Reading test requires you to answer 40 questions and is designed to test you on an array of reading skills. You would have to read for gist, main ideas, details, logical arguments, skimming, and figuring out the writers’ attitudes, opinions and intentions.

IELTS Writing test (60 minutes)

The IELTS writing test requires you to complete two tasks and covers topics of general interest based on the module you are taking.

IELTS Speaking Test (11-14 minutes)

The IELTS Speaking test assesses your spoken English skills. The test is recorded and conducted in three parts.

You take 3 modules – Listening, Reading and Writing on paper and Speaking Test face-to-face with a certified examiner.

IELTS on Paper

In IELTS on Paper, you’ll take the test in a traditional manner – at a desk with question papers and answer sheets for Reading, Listening and Writing tests in an official IELTS test centre. The Speaking test will be carried out one-on-one with a certified IELTS examiner.

Your results will be available after 7 calendar days from the test date.

 

IELTS ON COMPUTER (CD IELTS)

  • Conveniently located test centres across India

Scoring:

  • Scores range from 0 to 9 bands in each section, with an overall band score.
  • Results are available in 2 days for the computer-based test and 7 days for the paper-based test.
